This scholarship is very important to me. I applied to a lot of scholarships and didn’t hear back from most of them. The fact that the only one that I did hear back from is the dyslexia one is interesting. However, it also makes me feel good. Having a scholarship dedicated to helping kids with dyslexia, like me, who have similar stories, is very important. I’m excited to be awarded. It makes me feel like I am seen and valued for who I am – with dyslexia – and that even with it, I can be successful. Like I said in my application, I want to inspire others to reach for things that they feel are out of reach, even opportunities like scholarships! If anyone is worried about affording college, I want to tell them to apply; tell their story and show others what they have done. Anything is possible. This scholarship is proof of that for me.
